Dermaroller is a tried and tested procedure that is proven to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin which naturally diminishes as we age.

It is the loss of collagen and elastin over time that produces lines and wrinkles as our skin becomes less elastic and 'saggy'. There has been little evidence that anything can reverse this process. Dermaroller is one treatment that has been proven to do so. The process involves rolling a small barrel covered in very fine and small needles (1.5mm) quickly over the area to be treated in six directions. The needles puncture the skin and part the pores of the top layer of skin without damaging it. Dermaroller Therapy

Dermaroller Therapy is a natural skin rejuvenation treatment that utilises advanced skin-needling. Skin needling stimulates the skin and prompts regeneration and repair. This process has been shown to stimulate collagen production from within and is therefore a naturally occurring process. The result of this regeneration is the creation of smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.

The Dermaroller is a barrel like roller comprising tiny micro-needles which are rolled across the skin creating tiny pin pricks that encourage this rejuvenation and collagen production, filling out wrinkles and depressed acne or surgical scars.

Scarring that is commonly produced by acne or chicken pox responds well to medical skin needling and the technique is used by consultant dermatologists in their clinics worldwide.

Collagen stimulation is achieved by introducing a series of fine, tiny needles into the skin following administration of a topical local anaesthetic to reduce discomfort. The needles are attached to a sterile roller which is used only once and moved over the surface of the skin to create microscopic pin-pricks. These pinpricks create columns of penetration within the papillary dermal layer of the skin where collagen and elastin fibres are located. These minute punctures close over almost immediately as the skin heals. The "damage" to the dermis encourages the body to produce new collagen and elastin which generate new skin cells; the skin becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful.

Although primarily used on the face, this procedure can be carried out anywhere on the body, including troublesome acne areas such as the back, stretch marks on the thighs and abdomen, and on all skin types.
